Tahoe City Public Utility District Information on Air Quality:

Monitoring AQI for PM2.5

Various government agencies monitor the air at locations throughout California and report the current AQI for those places. The AQI is a measurement of how polluted the air is. An AQI over 100 is unhealthy for sensitive people and an AQI over 150 is unhealthy for everyone.

To monitor current and forecasted AQI for PM2.5, visit AirNow.gov and enter the zip code of the location.

The current AQI is also available from the U.S. Forest Service at US Forest Service AirFire or a local air district.

Measurements above 151 (Unhealthy) Prolonged measurements >151 will result in cancellation of youth outdoor activities that cannot be moved indoors. Youth outdoor activities that may be able to be relocated indoors may be adjusted in lieu of cancellation. Adult sport and fitness organized programs will be cancelled or moved indoors.

Cancellations due to poor air quality will be refunded to your CivicRec account. You can request the refund to your credit card via email
